Biography
Ariadna Barbe-Villa: double bassist born in Matanzas, Cuba. She graduated from the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana in 1994. While in Cuba, Ariadna participated in numerous festivals as well as the prestigious Amadeo Roldàn National Music Competition, receiving the First Prize and First Honorable Mention for excellence in interpretation of Cuban Music. In 1995 she came to the United States where she continued her studies with the prominent double bassist Lucas Drew at the University of Miami. In 2001 she graduated from University of Miami with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. In 2008, Ariadna graduated from Barry University with a Master's Degree in Science with a major in Educational Computing and Technology.
Ariadna has performed with outstanding musicians such as Andrea Bocelli, Plàcido Domingo, Bobby McFerrin, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Pepe Romero, Robert McDuffie, Leo Brouwer and more. She has also studied with Franco Petracchi, Harold Robinson, John Patitucci, Milton Masciadri, Carlos del Puerto Sr., Horacio Cabarcos, and Nicky Orta, during private sessions. Ariadna is a member of the Southwest Florida Symphony, The New Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ars Flores Symphony, and the Key West Pops. She has also performed with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Miami City Ballet, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, American Sinfonietta, Miami, Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, and the Florida Keys Chamber Orchestra. She is also the founder and music director of the Miami Soul Strings.
Ariadna is presently teaching as well as performing all over south Florida.
